Metro certainly have Liverpool fans looking up with avid interest here in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
This is after they report that Steven Gerrard has been speaking out about the club’s efforts to keep Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson at the club and seems to want the situation resolved as soon as possible.
The Liverpool skipper was talking to Sky Sports and made no secret of his feelings on the contractual situation currently surrounding a couple of the Reds’ top players.
The soon to be LA Galaxy star noted: “I see Henderson with a year left [and with] Sterling – [the transfer speculation is] in the paper too much and there is no smoke without fire. For me the message to the club is to get these done sharpish.”
As our regulars note, Gerrard is spot on and we can count so many times where clubs have stalled over new deals for their best players who then either feel unwanted or manage to court attention and subsequently a better offer from rival clubs.
