Arsenal took the decision to loan out Reiss Nelson over the summer and whilst the fans weren’t best pleased with that call, it seems like it’s the right one. The youngster made his debut for Hoffenheim today as a second-half substitute and it took him under 15 minutes to make an impact, scoring an 86th-minute equaliser.
A goal on your @tsghoffenheim debut?

It wasn’t to be for the youngster on his debut as they eventually lost 2-1, with Fortuna Dusseldorf scoring just two minutes after Nelson’s strike to win the game in the 88th minute. That won’t matter too much to the young winger and he’ll be keen to add as many goals and assists to his game as he can and show what he’s about in his time in Germany before returning to Arsenal next summer.
The aim for the 18-year-old this season will be to show that Unai Emery was wrong to loan him out and get back into the squad next season. The club currently has a real lack of an out and out winger and Nelson would have provided that. He may be a diamond in the rough but he’s still a quality winger who would have given the Gunners an option off the bench and someone to utilise in the domestic cups.

The Arsenal fans are going to enjoy tuning in to see how Nelson gets on every week in Germany and will be counting down the days until he’s back at The Emirates.
