Metro seem to have interested Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
The publication have claimed that Rio Ferdinand is one of their top targets – and the North London club are leading the chase to land him.
The defender is of course currently out of contract and without a club after Manchester United rather gracelessly released the long-serving 35-year-old.
The Red Devils told him in the dressing room that his services would no longer be required and now we think that Ferdinand will take some time to consider his future and make sure he gets it right.
There are not exactly a shortage of clubs who are interested in the player.
The chance to push for a top four place in the league, not to mention still being able to play European football might well push Spurs to the front of the queue in the players’ mind however.
It seems that a move back to London could well be on the cards for Rio – and we think that would be a far better choice than a big money move to the MLS.
Do you think that Ferdinand will manage to secure a move to another top club? Should Spurs even be considering a swoop? Let us know your thoughts below.
