Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking ahead to the new Premier League season, yet they could have a battle on their hands to keep one of their star men.
The Eagles learnt that they would open their 2018/19 campaign away to newly-promoted Fulham at Craven Cottage, and will want to come out on top in the London derby.
However, Roy Hodgson’s side may have to do so without the services of Patrick van Aanholt, with reports claiming that he has been attracting interest from abroad.
And that’s because The Sun are reporting that the former Sunderland full back is being considered by Juventus for a possible move should they lose Alex Sandro to Manchester United.
The 27-year-old has impressed for the Eagles during his time at Selhurst Park, and Hodgson will determined to keep him as he is viewed as a vital and influential member of his squad.
The Serie A side are thought to be preparing a £25 million bid for the left back, and could test Palace’s resolve if Sandro does indeed make he move to Old Trafford.
Landlord’s Verdict: Van Aanholt had an impressive year with Crystal Palace and proved to be a key man for them during the season, both defensively and offensively.
The 27-year-old came up with a number of key goals during the campaign, and the locals in the bar will be hoping to see him back in the red-and-blue when the Premier League starts again, although much will depend on whether United can get a deal done for Sandro.
As such, Palace fans will be sincerely hoping that the Red Devils aren’t able to bring him to Old Trafford.
