Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be excited with what the Steven Gerrard era has in store for them and will be hoping that more of the same can continue.
The new Ibrox chief has been busy since being named the new manager of the Light Blues and has already made a number of additions to his side and looks likely to continue with that trend.
It is also understood that he will be prepared to let a number of the current squad leave the Gers and according to reports, he may have to let one of the players he would like to keep go as he looks to raise more funds.
The Scottish Sun are claiming that Gerrard is willing to listen to any offers over £3.5million for full-back James Tavernier. The 26-year-old has been attracting plenty of interest from clubs south of the border, despite having reiterated his desire to stay in Glasgow and win trophies with the Gers.
Landlord’s Verdict
Tavernier has proven to be a mainstay of the team since his arrival from Wigan Athletic and has even gone on to captain the side this season at certain points. The defender has been solid at the back, whilst also proving to be one of Rangers’ better attacking options at times, which makes the possibility of his departure all the more surprising for the locals.
However, the possibility of Jon Flanagan arriving on a free transfer could see his playing time at Ibrox become rather limited and the club would be stupid to waste the opportunity of cashing in on him now rather than later on in his career.
Rangers fans – thoughts?
