Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting the club to make a number of changes this summer as they look to become more competitive next season.
The Anfield outfit reached a Champions League final, but the club’s form in the Premier League had started to decline during the final league games of the season and Jurgen Klopp will not want to see a repeat of it again.
The German has already improved his team by bringing in Fabinho, yet the German still wants more signings, it seems. However, for that to happen, he’ll need to free up some funds, and Calcio Mercato are reporting that a few familiar faces could depart as he looks to do just that.
The strikers have failed to make much of impact in the past season, largely due to serious injury concerns and Klopp is thought to be ready to cut his losses on the pair and try and make money from possible sales.
Significantly, no suggestion is made on a possible destination.
Landlord’s Verdict
The Liverpool fans in the Tavern will be expecting a number of players to leave this summer and the duo mentioned would be likely departures.
With the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane up front, there are limited opportunities for the likes of Ings and Sturridge and they would be better off looking elsewhere to reinvigorate their careers.
It’s important that they are replaced, as squad depth is important, but their recent form simply hasn’t been good enough.
