Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted with the work that new manager Steven Gerrard has already completed since joining them, and will be hoping he can continue with it for a long time to come.
The former Liverpool star joined the Ibrox outfit as their new boss last month and has been busy making a number of additions to make his side as strong as possible, with four players having already been confirmed.
However, his recruitment drive does not seem to have slowed down, with reports from The Daily Record stating that Gerrard is looking at adding some firepower to the Light Blues this summer, as the media outlet are reporting that AS Roma’s Umar Sadiq is being considered by the Gers in a possible loan switch.
The 21-year-old has been working his way up in the Italian leagues having left Nigeria in 2014, and impressed in his first season with Spezia in Serie B. The forward scored 14 goals in his first 18 games for the club and earned a loan move to Roma’s youth side, where he continued to find the back of the net on a regular basis.
But whether Gerrard’s Rangers are able to get a deal done for the 21-year-old remains to be seen.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Rangers fans in the Tavern may not know much about Sadiq, yet if he can produce the same sort of figures for the Gers if he were to join them, he would quickly become a fan favourite at Ibrox.
Gerrard is keen on bringing firepower to the side and a loan deal could be the best option for all involved as he looks to strengthen other areas, whilst the Nigerian striker would get a taste of first-team football were he to move to Ibrox.
