Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to seeing what Unai Emery will bring to the club this summer, and will be pleased that the club is looking at their recruitment drive.
The Spaniard is keen to bring in a number of additions this summer as he takes over from Arsene Wenger, and has already been busy making changes. And, according to reports being made in the media, it appears that talks are in progress with a midfielder about a proposed move to the Gunners.
And that’s because The Daily Mail are reporting that the North London heavyweights remain in talks with Sampdoria about a possible deal for Lucas Torreira. It is believed that a sum of £22 million could help to bring the Uruguay international to the Emirates Stadium, as Emery is keen to add a defensive midfielder to his Gunners squad.
The 22-year-old is thought to have a release clause in his contract, yet Arsenal reportedly may need to pay in instalments due to a rather limited budget as well as a number of other targets, but whether they are indeed able to strike a deal for the highly-rated Uruguay international remains to be seen.
Landlord’s Verdict: Arsenal have already been busy making moves during the transfer window as they look to become competitive once again, and Torreira would certainly help to add the cover in front of the defence.
That department in particular has proven to be an area of concern for the Gunners over the last few seasons, which is why several of our resident Arsenal fans are hoping their side are able to get a deal done for 22-year-old Torreira this summer.
