Liverpool fans are among the most vocal on a daily basis in the Transfer Tavern and a big topic they’ve been debating in the past few days is their club’s summer transfer plans, with ins and outs on the agenda.
The Reds face what could be a pivotal few months for their long-term plans, with finishing in the top four and booking a spot in the Champions League the minimum expectation supporters have given their club were seen as title contenders before a January collapse saw them fall way below Chelsea and out of the quartet at the summit for a while.
Recent back-to-back victories over Arsenal and Burnley have put Jurgen Klopp’s men in a good position and a weekend win against Manchester City will further boost their hopes of a return to Europe’s top table, which would surely help with recruitment plans.
And while incomings are the hot topic among fans, the Liverpool Echo’s James Pearce – who covers the club for the local outlet – has been speaking to Anfield Nation about those who may leave the Merseysiders, outlining Mamadou Sakho, Daniel Sturridge, Alberto Moreno and Lucas Leiva as potential departures:
“A lot will depend on where LFC finish and what kind of offers come in for those players who aren’t guaranteed starters going forward,
“I’d expect Klopp to sell Sturridge and Sakho. I’m sure Lucas will have a few offers of more regular football elsewhere and it wouldn’t surprise me if Moreno left.”
Lucas, Sakho and Moreno leaving may not come as major shocks given their collective lack of playing time this season, but Sturridge leaving is notable given his quality and scoring record.
