The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for their side to pick up three points against Stoke City this evening. Given Tottenham’s loss to Leicester City last night, the Reds could leapfrog the London-based outfit with a win, and so this game holds a lot of significance for Jurgen Klopp.
The manager, then, will be under a lot of pressure to get his team selection right. A wrong choice here or there could be enough to swing the result in the other direction, and so he can’t afford any mistakes. One player that will certainly be in contention is Sadio Mane, who missed out on the starting eleven in Liverpool’s last game against Chelsea. This is, it seems, something that the Liverpool faithful want to see change tonight.
Our landlord has been discussing the decision to rest Mane with our resident Reds, and after opening up the discussion through the use of a poll, he has learned that the Senegalese forward is a popular man amongst fans. In response to the question of whether Mane should start tonight, a whopping 96% of Liverpool fans responded very favourably, with clearly a vast majority of them in support of such a decision.
It’s no real surprise, of course. Mane, though he has had a tough campaign so far, has been sensational at points this term, whilst he proved last season that he’s one of Europe’s best. With Mo Salah rampaging down the right-flank, Mane’s electric pace down the left will make Liverpool an incredibly potent attacking outfit. Against Stoke City, the Liverpool faithful clearly feel as though this is what they need.
