Members of the Spanish press are causing a stir in The Transfer Tavern by claiming that legendary Argentinean playmaker Juan Riquelme could be set for a return to La Liga from Argentine giants Boca Juniors.
The 31-year-old enjoyed four fantastic years at Villarreal and has become the number one target for businessman Carlos González if he becomes the new Real Mallorca chairman.
The Merca Futbol website claims that González is on the verge of taking control of the Balearic Island club.
The signing “will not be easy” and depends on whether a financial package can be put together which would tempt Boca Juniors to sell their idol.
Another target is Cléber Santana, the Atlético Madrid midfielder who was on loan at Mallorca last season.
So is this a booze-fuelled story or the genuine article? Could Riquelme entertain the Spanish crowds once again? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
