Liverpool host Bayern Munich in the first leg of their last-16 fixture in the Champions League this evening.
Having just managed to make it out of Group C to reach the knockout rounds, Liverpool have been paired with Bayern in what promises to be a very interesting encounter.
The German outfit were unbeaten in their group, winning four and drawing two, so despite not leading the Bundesliga, they will still be a very tough side for the Reds to overcome.
With that being said, let’s take a look at two men who must start later to make their mark on the game…
Andy Robertson
Bayern’s right-winger of choice in their last two fixtures has been Serge Gnabry. The ex-Arsenal man has netted three times from this position in their last two games so if he is chosen again, Robertson will have to be on top of his game to keep him quiet.
As well as displaying his fine defensive attributes, the flying Scot must also choose the right times to help out with the attack yet make sure Liverpool are not open to a sharp counter-attack from Bayern.
He has a tough night on his hands but it is one in which he can show the depth of his talent.
Sadio Mane
Mane has been on top form lately, having found the back of the net on each of his last four outings.
His opponent, if he starts on the left-wing, is more than likely to be Joshua Kimmich and even though the German is on top of his game at the moment, if someone is to cause him problems it would be Mane.
Whether the Senegal international will continue his scoring spree it is yet to be seen, but he will surely play a key role later tonight.
