Rodgers makes bold Liverpool claim about 31-year-old

Quoted by the Daily Record, Brendan Rodgers has said that Celtic captain Scott Brown would have got into the Liverpool side he nearly managed to the Premier League title in 2013/14, causing great debate here in the Transfer Tavern.

The Ulsterman was in charge of the Anfield side between 2012 and 2015, during which time the Reds came very close to winning their first ever Premier League title with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge up front.

In midfield were then captain Steven Gerrard and the current armband holder, Jordan Henderson, but Rodgers feels that his skipper, would have earned his way into that side.

“The biggest compliment I can give him is that, having worked in what is supposedly is the best league in the world, Scott Brown, if I look at my Liverpool team that nearly won the title, he would definitely have been in it”, he said.

”There’s no doubt about that, so that’s the level that the guy is at as a player and as a captain, you want him in your team and on your side.”

The former Hibs man has been instrumental in the Bhoys’ success over the last ten years and has been a mainstay in Rodgers’ edition of the team this season, putting the doubts raised last season behind him.

He has made 20 appearances in total this season for Rodgers’ men who are nine points clear at the top of the league.

Still, the Reds fans simply cannot stop laughing as they flock into the Transfer Tavern tonight.
