Rodgers simply must not start these 2 Celtic players against St. Johnstone – agreed?

What a season it has been so far for the Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern. Though they’ve often been the most dominant side in Scotland, Brendan Rodgers has taken them to another level, and whilst last season was a sensational one, this year is on course to be even better.

They’ve had a pretty good few weeks in the SPFL, and given that it’s still early days in the context of the campaign, they’re yet to break away from the rest of the sides in the league as they so often have in the past. A win against St. Johnstone this weekend, though, could allow them to do exactly that.

A few sides are keeping pace with Celtic at present, and so a win this weekend is vital. Brendan Rodgers, then, needs to ensure that his team selection is absolutely spot on if he wants to secure that those ever important three points.

Despite the good form, it makes sense to chop and change the squad on a weekly basis, and so there are a few players that could see themselves on the bench this weekend.

With that said, Rodgers simply must not start these 2 Celtic players against St. Johnstone – agreed?

Stuart Armstrong

It has been a tough few weeks for Stuart Armstrong.

He’s not a particularly popular man in the Transfer Tavern at the moment, and that’s with good reason. He looked good last term, but he’s struggled to replicate that form this term.

He’s come in for a lot of criticism over the last few days after a shocker in mid-week, and so perhaps Brendan Rodgers would be wise to take him out of the firing line. He’s got the talent, but he isn’t showing it at the moment.

 Moussa Dembele

A controversial choice, but perhaps a likely one.

Everyone knows what Dembele can do, it’s no longer a secret. His goalscoring record is fantastic, and he’s one of Celtic’s most important players.

However, Leigh Griffiths is another player with bags of quality, and his electric pace could be very useful this weekend.

Let’s not forget, bigger fixtures – particularly in Europe – are to come over the next few weeks, and Dembele is still working his way back to fitness. His talents will be needed, and so it makes sense to share the workload.
