Roy Hodgson is unsure when Zaha will return

Crystal Palace fans will be hugely disappointed to have missed out on a trip to Wembley Stadium, as their side failed to get the better of Watford in their FA Cup quarter-final clash yesterday.

And, the Eagles face even more disappointment on the injury front involving Wilfried Zaha.

What’s the news?

The Ivory Coast international, who is valued at £31.5 million (by Transfermarkt), suffered a hamstring injury during Crystal Palace’s 2-1 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Sadly, the forward was unable to train ahead of the trip to Vicarage Road and Roy Hodgson has admitted that he doesn’t know when Zaha will return to action, according to the Standard.

Here’s what the Englishman had to say:

“You never know with hamstring injuries and strains. You need to be careful.

“He felt it after the Brighton game, he didn’t train during the week. We took him out on Thursday under controlled conditions, but it was obvious it would have been a serious risk.

“With the two weeks coming up we can only hope he recovers.”

The Verdict:

Wilfried Zaha has been one of the standout performers for the Eagles in the current campaign having produced an impressive eight goals and five assists. So, the recent news will be sure to worry supporters as the attacker’s contributions have been invaluable up until this point and relegation is still a slight worry.

The fact that Hodgson is unsure on Zaha’s potential return doesn’t bode well for Palace’s season as he could miss a chunk of crucial games if his injury doesn’t improve, which could prove costly.

Crystal Palace fans, surely Zaha’s potential absence could drag you back into the relegation picture?
