Ruben Amorim keen to bring “smart” Manchester United defender to AC Milan

Ruben Amorim has already made an encouraging start to life at AC Milan after leaving Manchester United, beating his former club 4-2 in pre-season before opening the Serie A campaign with victory over Torino.

However, the Portuguese coach appears to want further additions before the transfer window closes.

And now, one familiar face from his time at Old Trafford has now emerged as a potential target.

Amorim Wants Mazraoui

Ruben Amorim is keen to reunite with Noussair Mazraoui at AC Milan, with the Italian giants considering a late move for the versatile Manchester United defender.

Milan are assessing their defensive options ahead of the deadline, according to CaughtOffside, and Mazraoui has emerged as a player of interest because of his ability to play at full-back, wing-back or in a back three.

Amorim knows the Morocco international well from their time together at United and is understood to be an admirer of his qualities, having previously described him as a “smart” defender.

Mazraoui joined United from Bayern Munich in 2024 and remains under contract until 2028, meaning the Premier League side are under no pressure to sell.

The 28-year-old has also changed agents this summer, which has fuelled speculation over his future, but Milan would still need to convince United to part with a player who offers considerable tactical flexibility.

Elsewhere, United are said to be interested in signing Barcelona full-back Alejandro Balde.
