Though the Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed with the manner in which the club have improved of late. While the season hasn’t always been smooth sailing, life amongst our Red Devils is a relatively good one right now.
However, there remains a divisive figure amongst the punters propping up our bar right now. And it isn’t Jose Mourinho, funnily enough.
Summer signing Romelu Lukaku has endured a difficult time of things in recent weeks, despite his excellent start to the campaign. With only 1 goal in 10 games, many of our United-mad drinkers have been criticising the Belgian, especially since the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Still, Mourinho has leapt to the defence of his £75m signing, as revealed in a post on the club’s Twitter feed, claiming he’s playing exactly how he wants right now.
"The way Romelu wins the corner for the goal, the way he ended the game, making tackles in left-back positions, that's the mentality I want."
