The Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern aren’t quite sure on what to make of last night’s Champions League draw away at Sevilla. Indeed, while taking the game back to Old Trafford can never be a bad thing, the manner in which they failed to entertain in the south of Spain has proven really rather frustrating.
For our resident Red Devils who aren’t yet sold on Jose Mourinho, that performance was exactly what they were fearing. Not often associated with free-flowing attacking football, the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ isn’t a natural fit in the eyes of some United-mad punters.
Despite a ridiculously expensive frontline, United failed to truly test the La Liga outfit and, were it not for the excellence of David De Gea, their trip to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium could have turned out to be somewhat of a nightmare. With all this in mind, there was always likely to be some emotional reaction online.
