Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking forward to seeing what Unai Emery can bring to the Emirates Stadium this summer and will have been pleased with what he has accomplished already.
The Spaniard took over from Arsene Wenger at the end of the Premier League season and has already revealed he is determined to make his mark on the side and get them back into the Champions League.
He has already been active in the transfer window this summer, making a number of changes at the club that he feels will help strengthen them, however, he is far from finished and wants to bring a powerful midfielder to the side.
According to reports by Sky Sports, the Gunners are remaining interested in Nice’s Jean-Michael Seri and will have to battle the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City for his services. The French outfit are now managed by Patrick Vieira, who could have an influence on who the midfielder decides to join, although he does have strong links with the Etihad Stadium side now.
Indeed, Raul Sanllehi – Head of Football Relations at the Emirates – is thought to be leading the interest in Seri, an example of their new transfer committee.
Landlord’s Verdict
The Gunners will look to be in a strong position to bring the Ivory Coast international to the Premier League, which is thought to be the 26-year-old’s preferred competition. The locals in the bar will feel the club is more of a suitable option for Seri to join as they have a manager in place, unlike Chelsea, whilst City are trying to push through a deal for Jorginho from Napoli meaning there is no guarantee the African could join the Citizens.
