Celtic: Fans left baffled by team announcement on Twitter

Plenty of Celtic fans were none too impressed with the club’s social media team over the announcement of the starting XI for last night’s Europa League clash against Lazio.
Should Celtic re-sign Victor Wanyama?
Yes

No

Eighty minutes before kick-off at Parkhead, the Hoops’ official Twitter channel @CelticFC revealed Neil Lennon’s team selection, listing the players in order of their shirt numbers rather than positions, with the exception of goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

According to WhoScored, the Scottish champions set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Hatem Abd Elhamed, Christopher Jullien, Kristoffer Ajer and Boli Bolingoli across the back, Scott Brown and Callum McGregor as the midfield base, James Forrest, Ryan Christie and Mohamed Elyounoussi as the attacking midfield trio and Odsonne Edouard at centre-forward.
The 4-2-3-1 setup was in keeping with Lennon’s standard choice of formation this season, only deviating slightly from that in a couple of games where he went 4-1-4-1, as per TransferMarkt.
While there were no great surprises in the Celtic line-up, with just two changes from last weekend’s win over Ross County, these Hoops fans on Twitter were still left baffled by the numerical ordering of the online team announcement:
Unless Christie really is playing centre half, can we please stop with the numerical order?

Seriously lads we need formation order.

Team picks itself these days but @CelticFC need to sort out how they announce the team. Do it by position or numerical but this fry’s my brain.

Every European game you let a part timer announce the team in numerical order (minus keeper) is that the only position you know

Gonna put them in the correct order? That just looks odd
