Many Celtic fans gave credit to defender Greg Taylor following his performance on Sunday after he was restored to Neil Lennon’s starting line-up.
The 22-year-old missed last Thursday’s trip to Copenhagen after he incurred a hamstring problem against Aberdeen the previous weekend but recovered in time to face former club Kilmarnock three days later. The match at Parkhead was Taylor’s sixth successive Premiership start, having had just three for Celtic prior to the winter break, and he has been a beneficiary of Lennon’s adoption of two wing-backs in recent domestic games, with Boli Bolingoli and Jonny Hayes struggling for game-time of late.
The Scotland defender strengthened his case for further inclusion after a busy display against Kilmarnock in which he provided the cross which ultimately led to Odsonne Edouard’s goal, was denied an assist for Leigh Griffiths only because of an offside flag disallowing the goal and tested the visitors’ goalkeeper Laurentiu Branescu with a late effort.
Glasgow Times writer Graeme McGarry was among those praising Taylor after the match, saying that he “was generally impressive going both ways on the left flank”, and these Celtic fans on Twitter also voiced their approval of his recent displays, with one saying that he “hasn’t looked back” since getting into the team regularly since the mid-season break:
Greg Taylor been excellent give great balance to the team.

I thought he was fine today and is a solid 7/10 type. Not a Tierney but imo better than Boli or Hayes.

He is used to playing in a defensive 4 where he doesnt go forward much, hes now playing in a 5 as a wing back, doing very well and improving every game.
