Though it’s not been the easiest season so far for Celtic and their supporters, their Old Firm win over bitter rivals Rangers has at least proved Brendan Rodgers and his side are still far ahead of Steven Gerrard’s men, despite the severe lack of investment of late.
Indeed, the Bhoys managed to avoid a complete disaster by beating the Gers 1-0 at Celtic Park on Sunday, allowing the club to head into the first international break of the season in a good mood.
While many may berate the unwelcome international break just while the season is getting underway, things won’t be stopping at Celtic Park. That’s because Jurgen Klopp and James Milner will be bringing a select Liverpool XI to Glasgow on Saturday to take on the Hoops in the fund-raising Match for Cancer.
Every penny raised will be devoted to tackling cancer through three equal beneficiary charities – Celtic FC Foundation, the Stiliyan Petrov Foundation and the James Milner Foundation, so excitement is palpable for an occasion set-up for such a good cause.
Ahead of the game, Reds boss Klopp (who replaced Rodgers in charge at Anfield back in 2015, of course) had a message for Celtic fans, one posted by the Scottish champions on Twitter.
