After Rangers’ bitter rivals Celtic secured the signing of Ivory Coast under-22 international Vakoun Issouf Bayo yesterday to make it their third signing this month, it looks as though The Bhoys are determined to seal their tenth Scottish Premiership title in a row.
The deal goes alongside the signing of Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah so far this month, as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his team.
Celtic have sent a clear message out to the rest of the Scottish Premiership, and it is up to Rangers to respond. Steven Gerrard’s men are currently level on points with Celtic, although The Hoops have a game in hand, and look as though they will push their rivals all the way this season.
However, the danger of Celtic making these additions is that they may slowly pull away from the pack as the season goes on, and Gerrard must do all he can to prevent that.
Of course, Rangers have made some signings already with the addition of veterans Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis. While these two will surely bring a lot, there is a feeling that The Gers will need to match, or even sign more than Rodgers’ outfit if they are going to usurp them this season.
Celtic are now signing players at a seemingly frantic pace, and it looks as though they will not stop now with three weeks remaining of the window. Rangers will equally need to get busy now, as this could well be the month where the Scottish Premiership is won and lost.
