One Rangers player delighted the Ibrox faithful with his performance on Sunday despite the defeat to Hearts, as fans want to see more from USA international Matt Polster.
When you suffer a devastating setback in the title race to the bottom side in the league, it seems unlikely that any players will emerge with any credit, but some Rangers supporters have taken solace in the fact that they may have found an adequate back-up for James Tavernier.
Jon Flanagan started the clash at Tynecastle in the absence of Tavernier, but was booked in the first-half and looked well off the pace, leading Steven Gerrard to make a change at half-time. Polster was a marked improvement, upping the side’s attacking output down the right flank and marking his territory as the number two right-back at the club.
With the skipper expected to be out for at least a few more games after his appendix surgery, fans are caling for Gerrard to hand the 26 year-old Polster the starting spot against Ross County on Wednesday. Check out some of the best Twitter reactions down below…
On this evidence Polster should be knocking on the door of the first team, not 4th choice.

Fair play to Matt Polster. Did more in 45 minutes than I’ve seen from Jon Flanagan all season. Should keep his place till the Captain is back.

3 things from today.
Matt polster is head and shoulders above Jon Flannagan.
We need to sign another quality number 10 and a striker this window or the league is over.
Despite his goal, Ryan Kent had a huge amount to prove to justify his price tag.

First time I’ve really seen Matt Polster in action…He offers a gargantuan amount more than Jon Flanagan

Played some deadly balls

If the rumours are true that we’re letting Polster go, should be immediately putting the breaks on that.
He’s a decent back up, it’s Flanagan who can’t cut it unfortunately.
