BT Sport co-commentator Stephen Craigan claimed Alfredo Morelos was “disgusted” with Glasgow Rangers teammate Ianis Hagi during the Gers’ Europa League round of 32 clash with Royal Antwerp on Thursday.
In the 16th minute at Ibrox, with the Gers already 1-0 ahead after Morelos had opened the scoring, Hagi decided to shoot from 30 yards when the Colombia international was in a far better position closer to the goal.
“Alfredo Morelos’ reaction showed you he wasn’t happy. He was a little bit disgusted, shall we say.”
These things happen
Morelos is known as a fierce competitor in Scotland – clearly, his frustration is not reserved only for his opponents, but also his teammates when the time is right. In this situation, it is clear Hagi should have passed – but these things can happen in football.
Will Rangers progress to the quarter-finals?
While Morelos has not been at his best this term, he has done rather well in the Europa League. In 11 games this term in the competition, he has five goals and a huge eight assists (Transfermarkt). If Steven Gerrard and co want to continue to progress in the competition, they will need the 24-year-old at the top of his game.
In other news, this Rangers star is expected to leave the club this summer.
