These Celtic fans need to remember what Rodgers has achieved at Celtic Park

There are very few professions which are more insecure than modern day football management, and Celtic fans reaction to their latest setback gives a strong indication as to why owners are consistently trigger-happy in the boardroom.

The rise of fan power has had a marked effect on the lack of job security which characterises football management. A handful of poor results is typically all that is required to turn the tide against the manager and provoke speculation regarding their dismissal, and Brendan Rodgers’ struggle at Celtic is a quintessential example of how short-sighted football fans can be.

Optimism was drained out of Celtic Park following a miserable summer in which Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League and forced to wave goodbye to Moussa Demebele, and the opening to the season has done nothing to shift the mood.

Indeed, Celtic have drawn one and lost one since they recorded a convincing 1-0 victory over Rangers in the Old Firm derby and the supporters are beginning to ask questions of Brendan Rodgers.

Following their 2-1 defeat against Kimarnock on Sunday afternoon, TT’s Ally Darlow delved into Twitter to assess the reaction from the Bhoys and he discovered plenty of frustrated supporters whom are beginning to question Rodgers’ credentials following their miserable opening to the campaign.

It’s easy to sympathise with the Celtic supporters whom have become so accustomed to success under Rodgers, but they need to be patient during their unusual downturn in form and trust that the Welshman possesses the necessary tools to steer the Hoops back in the right direction.

Titles have been clinched and records have been smashed under Rodgers’ stewardship and it’s important the supporters remember what he has achieved before they question his loyalty and commitment to the club.

It’s certainly not been plain sailing for Celtic so far this season but with Rodgers at the helm there is no doubt they are well placed to storm clear at the top of the SPFL, so the supporters need to rally round in support whilst the club are going through their worst spell since he took charge.
