Metro have stunned our punters here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim Mario Balotelli could well still be on his way to former club Inter Milan after the Serie A side refused to rule out a move for him.

Nerazzurri vice president Javier Zanetti made the point that Mario is a ‘great player’ but had only just arrived at Liverpool so any move would be difficult.

This has of course made the majority of our regulars shake their heads as we wonder just when Roberto Mancini will finally learn his lesson when it comes to the troublesome forward.

It is however brilliant news for Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool who will be dipping into the transfer market to land a forward and should they decide to sell Balotelli, they could use that money and put it towards an actual world class forward this time.

The majority of our regulars certainly think that Balotelli’s time at Anfield is done although there is still one or two more intoxicated punters who seem to think he might still come good!
