Eagles fans in the Tavern have been less than impressed with the season so far; the squad have underperformed and survival is the only target. 

Sam Allardyce has had a difficult start to his reign at Crystal Palace and the Eagles faithful are yet to fully embrace ‘Big Sam’ as one of their own.  They remain in the bottom three and were recently hammered  4-0 at home to lowly Sunderland.

Crystal Palace are a proud London club; the fans are fiercely loyal, committed to the cause and demand the same from the players.  Of late the more vocal fans in Tavern have been openly critical of some players, namely Wayne Hennessey and Damien Delaney who have performed poorly this season.

With even more ‘must win’ games ahead of them the Crystal Palace faithful are also sympathetic to some players who are cruelly underrated and lack the respect they deserve.

So, which two players should be receiving a little more acknowledgement this season?

That being said, these 2 Crystal Palace players definitely deserve more respect and recognition…

JASON PUNCHEON

If you cut Jason Puncheon open he would bleed Red and Blue.

After notching up over 100 appearances, the Croydon-born attacker has been a big player for the Eagles over the last few years.

Puncheon does not get the recognition he deserves; the attacker is an outstanding dead ball specialist and has a lethal left foot.

 JAMES MCARTHUR

The Scottish international has not been given the credit he deserves this term.

With 5 goals and 2 assists in the Premier League James McArthur is a shining light in a horribly disappointing season.

With Cabaye struggling for form and the arrival of the unknown Milivojevic, McArthur’s consistency and tenacity will be vital.

Allardyce would be wise to utilise him as the relegation fight begins to heat up.
