The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a strong second-half of the season. The Reds have had a mixed campaign so far, and whilst Jurgen Klopp’s men are clearly a team on the up, there is a long way still to go.
They really need a trophy to help solidify their rise, and the FA Cup could be the perfect opportunity to secure just that. The competition returns this weekend, with Liverpool set to take on West Brom later today.
Lallana, of course, suffered an injury around the start of the 2017/18 season, and he’s yet to really full make a comeback from that. He has started just one Premier League game, and he looked to be getting back to his best, but unfortunately, he now looks to be back at square one.
It’s come at a particularly frustrating time for Liverpool following the sale of Philippe Coutinho. Lallana was largely expected to take over the mantle from the departing Brazilian, but the Reds now look likely to have to cope without him for another game at least.
Still, there is a long way to go both in the Premier League and FA Cup, and so Lallana will likely still have a chance to have a big impact before the season is out.
Landlord’s Verdict
Liverpool should be able to beat struggling West Brom without Lallana, so this shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
It’s frustrating, given that he was en route back to full fitness, but Klopp seemed confident that it’s only a minor issue, and so it shouldn’t have too many long-term implications.
