Sheffield United Women announced some positive news on Monday as it was confirmed via their social media page that three players had signed new contracts at the club.
On Twitter, the Blades announced that Katie Wilkinson, Jade Pennock and Maddy Cusack have signed new contracts ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Their futures were in doubt but now they can focus on the upcoming campaign and possibly gaining promotion into the WSL.
Speaking about remaining in South Yorkshire, Pennock told the club’s official website: “I’m delighted to have signed a new contract with the club. We’ve just come off the back of a great season and we want to improve on that this season and push for promotion. I’ve been working hard over the break and can’t wait to get back playing in front of our amazing fans.”
Wilkinson, who is a striker, scored 20 goals in her 21 appearances for the Blades, and her 15 goals in the division in just 14 games meant she was the FA Women’s Championship’s top scorer, per Sheffield United.
Meanwhile winger Pennock has scored 24 times and registered 12 assists since her arrival from Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2018, whilst midfielder Cusack managed three goals and three assists for the club last season.

Clearly the three have a big influence on the side, and Wilkinson and Pennock are a huge attacking threat so it would have been a big loss if they did not put pen to paper on new deals.
The Blades finished second in the Championship and were six points away from Aston Villa in first place, who managed to get promoted into the top division, via BBC Sport.
Next campaign they will look to go one better and finish first, and with the trio signing new deals, there will be a huge morale boost around the club and it could be the catalyst to them getting promoted next season.
