Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react as Jordan Rhodes discusses his future

Many Sheffield Wednesday fans are reacting following Dom Howson’s latest update, which has brought Jordan Rhodes and his future plans into the spotlight.

The 30 year-old looks like he wants to stay at the club and extend his contract which expires next summer. He said: “The only way I am going to get another contract with #SWFC is doing the business and scoring goals.”

It hasn’t been the best of spells at the Owls for the forward as he has only managed 14 goals in 82 appearances and only managed three goals last season (Transfermarkt).

It is a shame as he was a huge success at his previous Championship sides. At both Blackburn and Huddersfield, he played 316 times and scored 170 goals, which led him to receive a lot of praise. Gary Bowyer was one to speak highly of him, as he said: “His concentration levels, passion for the game and scoring goals, you won’t find anybody better. He’s scoring rate for the club is phenomenal.”

The player needs to rekindle that sort of form if he wants to both stay at the club and win back some of the fan base, as the reaction to him wanting to stay has been very mixed.
