Sheffield Wednesday reporter Joe Crann has been reacting to comments on trialist Hassan Ayari by Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom.

The Lowdown: Heckingbottom’s comments

It has emerged over the past seven days that Ayari is currently on trial at Hillsborough from rivals Sheffield United.

Blades boss Heckingbottom recently spoke out on Ayari’s situation, telling The Star that the club didn’t want the attacking midfielder to leave.

He hinted that the 19-year-old has taken that decision upon himself and said that the player’s impatience may have played a part in heading for a trial with Wednesday.

The Latest: Crann reacts

Crann took to Twitter on Friday afternoon, relaying the comments from Heckingbottom regarding Ayari.

The Owls reporter said that the situation over a possible move to Hillsborough ‘could get interesting’.

Will Wednesday win promotion this season?

The Verdict: One to watch indeed

It looks as if Ayari has made the decision to look for a new club by himself, so a potential out-of-window switch across Sheffield could be one to keep an eye on over the coming weeks.

Capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or on the wing, Ayari has already turned out for Wednesday’s U21s against Peterborough United and could be a future first-team player.

He was clearly rated by Sheffield United for them to want to keep hold of his services, so Wednesday may look to take advantage by offering the youngster a professional deal.

Ayari will have to continue to impress Wednesday officials, though, and who knows, United’s loss could prove to be Wednesday’s gain in the long run.
