The Liverpool fans were absolutely delighted in the Transfer Tavern last night after Chelsea slumped to a 4-1 defeat against Watford at Vicarage Road.

Liverpool missed an opportunity to strengthen their grip on their top-four place on Sunday afternoon as they conceded a last-gasp equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. The clash between Liverpool and Spurs was simply a breathtaking encounter between two of the leagues most exciting teams, but the final result was not what either the Kopites or the Lilywhites in the Tavern were hoping for.

Both sides turned their attention to another key top-four rival last night as Antonio Conte took his Chelsea side to Vicarage Road to face Javi Gracia’s Watford. And the Liverpool supporters were pleased that The Hornets did them a massive favour in their bid to qualify for the Champions League, as they netted a late flurry of goals to condemn Chelsea to a second straight Premier League defeat.

There were plenty of standout performers in Watford colours last night as the likes of Gerard Deulofeu and Richarlison impressed in the final-third, but it was the performance of Abduolaye Doucoure that really caught the attention of the Liverpool supporters on Twitter.

In fact, a handful of the Reds faithful were so impressed by Doucoure’s impact that they have urged their club to make him a summer transfer target at the end of the season.

Doucoure’s performances have been generally impressive throughout the season so far, and if he continues to perform to such a high standard then it may not be too long before a so-called big club comes calling for his signature.
