Rangers haven’t won a Scottish Premiership title since the 2010/11 season.
Cross-City rivals Celtic have simply dominated Scottish football in this decade, winning successive Trebles. Ever since the financial problems faced by Rangers, catching up Celtic has seemed a near impossible task. Even last season, they only placed third, pipped to second place by Aberdeen.
Tasked with the mission of delivering title 55 is Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. Gers fans will be hoping he uses his extensive contact book to bring some talent to Rangers which can bring them up to pace with the Green & White half of Glasgow.
In almost all areas of the pitch, Gerrard must find a way of improving Rangers. They fall short in almost every department currently, and this must be addressed. A front man who brings them 20+ goals a season must be high up on the agenda for Rangers.
Gerrard possesses some real talent in the form of Jamie Murphy, who has impressed at Brighton & Hove Albion in recent seasons, Josh Windass too, looks a raw talent. But more is required to bring Rangers back on a par.

The 31-year-old striker would be a great addition for Gerrard’s Rangers.
Sheffield Wednesday have a bloated squad and will be opening to listen to offers for several players. The striker has recently been linked with a move to Greece to play for Panathinaikos. Rangers should look to bring the player back to his homeland.
The front man has an exemplary goal scoring record at almost every club he has played for. He played regular Premier League football whilst with Sunderland. A physical forward with a great eye for goal, Fletcher is exactly the sort of player Rangers need.
Graeme Shinnie has constantly been one of the best players in the Scottish top flight. He has recently been called up to play for the senior Scotland squad.
Rangers should look to bring the Aberdeen captain to Glasgow. His leadership qualities and versatility would be crucial for the Ibrox outfit. Incredibly, the player hasn’t made fewer than 35 SPL appearances in his previous six seasons. He simply does not get injured and soldiers on season after season, proving himself as one of Scotland’s best.
This is the kind of signing that would show some real ambition to chase down Celtic.
What a signing James Chester would be for Rangers.
The Aston Villa man would do wonders at Ibrox. If Rangers could bring in a player of this calibre it would send signals that they are well and truly back on the map.
A fantastic ball playing centre back, rarely drawn into going to ground, he is a perfect modern centre back. At 29, he would come in with vast experience and ready to make an immediate impact. Chester would certainly help tighten up the Rangers defence, which has been something of a problem in recent times.
