Leicester this season have begun in strong fashion, sending a warning to the league’s biggest teams.
The Foxes have been on a tremendous rise ever since getting back into the Premier League, where amazingly they won the league title in the 2015/16. Leicester have strengthened their squad immensely over the summer, leaving them with a great chance of becoming one of the top English teams again.
Sadly for one of the stars of the title-winning team, Danny Simpson is surely set to be replaced in the team by new signing Ricardo Pereira.
The Englishman played a massive part in keeping their defence tight and organised but it seems the challenge of keeping his place against a Portuguese international is too much to ask.
On the other hand, Leicester’s new signing is a life full of energy and pace down the right-hand side, something that will be an asset in both attack and defence.
Simpson is now 31-years-old and his time with the Foxes could be ended by the exciting arrival of Ricardo Pereira.
Leicester needed to strengthen their back-line and Claude Puel has got exactly what he wished for with a number of new defenders. Pereira is the ultimate modern-day right-back as attack is similarly as important as defending. He adds pace and energy into the back-line that was before old and slow with the lies of Wes Morgan and Robert Huth, even Danny Simpson included.
Simpson will struggle to prove a match to Pereira meaning his time in the blue shirt of Leicester could be over. Whether the Premier League winning man can step up is yet unknown…
