Sort it ASAP: The 2 main issues Bournemouth need to sort before the season kicks off

The Bournemouth fans in the Transfer Tavern today will be hoping that these issues can be resolved before the new season.

It seems strange to say that Bournemouth have any issues given that they managed a 9th placed finish in only their second Premier League season ever.

However, no club is perfect and the south coast club do have their issues heading into the new season that need resolving.

If Eddie Howe wants to continue improving Bournemouth’s positioning in England’s top flight, then these issues will need rectified before the season kicks off so they can hit the ground running and put themselves in a good position for the remainder of the season.

Should these be resolved, there is no reason why the Cherries couldn’t improve on last season and continue their climb up the Premier League table.

With that being said, here are two main issues Bournemouth need to sort before the new season kicks off.

Their leaky defence

In the Premier League last season, Bournemouth conceded the fifth most amount of goals -two of the teams who conceded more than them were relegated.

The signings of Nathan Ake and Asmir Begovic have already started the improvements but that isn’t enough.

A complete revamp of the defensive line needs to happen at the very least to give Howe more options at the back.

Jordon Ibe

Last year, Jordon Ibe became Bournemouth’s most expensive signing of all time when he transferred from Liverpool for £15 million.

That record has since been broken by Nathan Ake’s signing from Chelsea this transfer window, but Ake has already proven his worth whilst on loan last season.

Ibe has still failed to do that. A huge under performer for the Cherries last season, Ibe is one of the top earners at the club on his £20,000 a week contract.

Bournemouth should look to move him on, admittedly at a loss, whilst they still can.
