Southampton supporters have been reasonably satisfied in recent times despite seeing their side concede a late equaliser in the Premier League on Saturday.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men went into their meeting with Burnley at Turf Moor unbeaten in their previous four league games, in which time they beat both Leicester City and Everton as well as drawing with Chelsea and Crystal Palace. And the Saints still haven’t tasted defeat in the league in 2019 yet after drawing 1-1 with Sean Dyche’s Clarets at the weekend, although it took a late leveller from Ashley Barnes to cancel out Nathan Redmond’s opener to secure a point for the hosts.
Nonetheless, there have been many satisfied Southampton fans up and down the country in recent times, although several have taken to Twitter to express their dismay at a recent update from Hasenhuttl regarding the fitness of striker Danny Ings (as per the club’s official Twitter handle).
The 26-year-old made the move to St Mary’s on loan at the start of the season with the obligation to buy the Englishman come the end of the season, and he has performed reasonably well for the Saints in bagging seven times in 18 Premier League appearances so far.
However, as was the case throughout most of his Liverpool career, the former Burnley forward has again been plagued by injuries on the South Coast in missing five matches so far due to injury, with it now confirmed (as per the club’s official Twitter handle) by manager Hasenhuttl that he is set for further time out of the side with a hamstring problem.
And that recent setback has stimulated quite a response from plenty of Southampton fans on Twitter, with several bemoaning the club’s decision to include an obligation to buy the striker come the end of his loan spell in the summer…
Danny Ings, hope we kept the receipt #saintsfc

Are we obliged to buy Ings? Great player, but always injured

But with domestic cups, League and Champions League, they would have used him, Danny Ings is a class player…..but he’s always injured and that’s why they’ve got rid. Looks like we’re stuck with a £20 million liability sadly .

Ings for £20m?…I’m not so sure anymore. He’s a good player but he’s definitely got issues. £20m for 20mins per game?… Shame because when he’s not injured he’s good!? #SaintsFC #southamptonfc #transferwindow

Can saints really afford to buy Ings next season? Seems pointless to me if he’s going to miss big chunks of the season with injuries!

Danny Ings is such a waste of money IMO

Southampton fans… what do you think? Let us know!
