Southampton recorded an impressive 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Saturday after initially going a goal down against the Red Devils at St Mary’s.
Summer signing Daniel James found the net for the visitors in emphatic style in the 10th minute, cutting in on his favoured right foot to rifle the ball into the top corner of the net.
United remained in front for the majority of the match, until Saints’ towering centre-half Jannik Vestergaard latched onto the end of an inch-perfect cross from Kevin Danso to nod home the hosts’ equaliser on the 73rd minute.
Danso quickly turned from hero to villain, however, after he made a rash challenge on United’s Scott McTominay. The Austrian received his second booking of the afternoon immediately afterwards, meaning he’ll miss the club’s trip to Sheffield United in two weeks’ time.
Saints fans have been quick to assure Danso that they have faith in him on Twitter, despite him seeing red against the Devils.
