Plenty of Southampton fans are far from happy with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s treatment of Nathan Tella so far this campaign.
The Saints have not had the best of times in the early weeks of 2020/21. As it stands, they are 16th place in the Premier League table, having won just one game out of nine. Only two teams have scored fewer than their eight goals this term (Sky Sports) as struggle to adjust to life without Danny Ings.
Tella is one of the most promising players at the club, but so far this season, he has made only three appearances in the league, having spent just 83 minutes on the pitch (Transfermarkt). In the League Cup, when he has been given more time, he has one goal and one assist in two matches, and many Saints supporters believe that he should be playing more.
Will Tella make it at Southampton?
These Southampton fans were far from happy with Hasenhuttl’s refusal to use him more in the league after an original comment made by @TheSaintCentre on Twitter, and they took to social media platform to share their thoughts.
Let’s see what these fans had to say about Hasenhuttl’s use of Tella
“Ralph is one big waste of space and time!!! Should have been gone last season”
“Ralph’s squad management is awful. I’m baffled by his treatment of Tella.”
“One of my criticisms of Ralph is his team selection. If our squad barely works, to him it still works and he won’t change. He needs to expand his choices and give players like Tella a chance.”
“Yeah he’s in his final 2 years of contract, can’t see him wanting to sign a new deal any time soon. Both Walcott and Long have been played over him this season, it’s almost criminal from Ralph, hopefully he’ll get a full game against Chelsea in the cup. Tbf Redmond has been okay”
“starting to think Ralph actually has an agenda”
“It’s poor from Ralph, he’s done exactly what I said he’d do, start Tella against a strong team in Chelsea, watch him struggle then use that performance as a reason not pick him for next 5 or so games. Majority of our fan base is blinded by Ralph, but I see poor man management…”
