According to Sky Sports News, Theo Walcott is close to a move to his former club Southampton, having become surplus to requirements at Goodison Park.
Walcott, of course, started off with the Saints, with his career taking him to Arsenal and Everton from there.
Now, it looks as if he is about to come full circle, closing in on a loan move to St. Mary’s Stadium for the remainder of the season.
This term, Walcott has barely featured for Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees, making just two appearances – all in all, he has been on the pitch for just 102 minutes in all competitions.
At Goodison Park, he has not been at his best, scoring just 11 times in 85 matches, but this is a player with plenty of quality and experience at the highest level. He regularly appeared in the Champions League with the Gunners, and scored more than 100 times in 398 games for the London outfit.
Would you be happy to sign Walcott?
Currently valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt, a loan move makes sense for Ralph Hasenhuttl. He has confirmed that, if Sofiane Boufal leaves, he will be looking to bring in a new winger, and with the Frenchman reportedly close to a switch to Angers, 31-year-old Walcott could be the perfect man to solve the Austrian’s attacking problem.
