Southampton fans have been reacting to a tweet from the club on former player Gaston Ramirez.
Ramirez made the move to the Saints in 2012 for a fee of £11.8m, with the Uruguayan snubbing both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to sign for the south-coast outfit. However, despite being the club’s record signing at the time, his move never really worked out. The £5.4m-valued midfielder (Transfermarkt) managed just eight goals and eight assists in 55 matches, and spent time on loan at Hull and Middlesbrough before finally moving to the latter.

With Sampdoria, he now has 16 goals and 18 assists in 105 matches, and has just turned 30. That led to Southampton’s official Twitter account sharing a video of him scoring against Everton to wish him a happy birthday.

This attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who decided to share their thoughts on Ramirez – some even suggested they wanted him back at the club.
