Southampton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are singing ‘one Ronald Koeman’ after the Daily Mail explained that Southampton are renewing their interest in FC Porto star Bruno Martins Indi.
The high-flying Saints are pondering a fresh move for the Netherlands international defender after Koeman missed out on him in the summer.
After his standout performances during the World Cup there was a tug of war between the Saints boss and Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.
This is because it was apparent that the defender wanted to continue playing his football under van Gaal once the World Cup had finished but a move never materialised.
He ended up joining Porto from Feyenoord in a deal worth £6 million but he is still wanted by the Premier League clubs and the 22-year-old admitted that he still thinks about working with van Gaal in the future.
“Spiritually I still have contact with van Gaal,” he said. “I think about him and I think he also thinks about me.”
Southampton fans. Are you confident that Ronald Koeman’s charm can win over Bruno Martins Indi or does his heart only beat for Louis van Gaal and United? Let us know your thoughts below.
