Metro have Arsenal fans looking up with concern here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that Barcelona could well be eyeing a move for man of the moment Santi Cazorla.
The creative star has been increasingly impressive in recent games and his man-of-the-match performance against Manchester City was one of the best we have seen in recent times with Barcelona’s Xavi then claiming he would ideally like to sign the player for his club.
Xavi was speaking at a Dentix event and claimed: “There is some great Spanish football talent around. Who would I sign for Barcelona? [David] Silva and Cazorla.”
However, as our regulars note, given Barcelona are now entering a transfer ban for an entire year, Cazorla will probably have gotten injured or lost form by the time that ends and we think that the Catalan giants will have moved onto another target.
Over by the pool table, our landlord shouts out that he thinks the Gunners simply have to keep Cazorla and could even look to offer him a new and improved deal given his current one runs out in 2016.
