The Football Transfer Tavern hosted a Ballon d’Or event on Monday night.

We dusted off the tavern’s 150-inch projector and screened the gala, held a table-top football tournament and put on a delightful buffet – there were these mini quiches that I hid back in the kitchen just for me, they’re sensational.

The night was a huge success and the majority agreed that Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo was a deserved winner.

We finished off the evening with a little awards ceremony of our own; it was all lighthearted and taken in good grace by the punters.

The winner of the Ballon murder on the dance d’floor was won by Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge.

The winner of the Ballon d’soar was West Ham United’s soon-to-be new striker Lacina Traore, who soars above everyone at 6 foot 8 inches.

There was also a special gong for Manchester United winger Ashley Young…
