12:45pm on Saturday and the Football Transfer Tavern was bouncing.

Liverpool versus Arsenal was seconds old, everyone was already spending the money they thought their bets would bring in and my landlord had put on a free buffet.

Fast-forward 19 minutes and there was a stunned silence. Even though their team was 4-0 up, even the Liverpool supporting punters weren’t making a sound.

Arsenal, Premier League leaders, were 4-0 down. FOUR. It was one of those moments that makes you realise anything is possible in football.

Eventually the atmosphere picked up again and come full-time the punters began to dissect the 90 minutes they’d just witnessed.

Were Arsenal that bad? Or were Liverpool too good? The general consensus seemed to be that, although Brendan Rodgers’ side were impressive, the Gunners just had a bad day at the office.

Whether you blame Arsene Wenger’s team selection, choice of substitutes or tactics, it is safe to say something was certainly clouding his judgement.
