What a difference a year makes, ey?
This time last season, Manchester United were seven points clear at the top of the Premier League and the Red Devil regulars were in a buoyant mood.
My landlord likes a happy United punter as he usually sells a few bottles of bubbly to them after a victory.
Needless to say, this season we’ve only sold about three bottles of the tavern’s finest champagne as David Moyes’ men continue to break unwanted records.
In fact, a Manchester City fan tried to hang a banner above the jukebox, that read:
“David Moyes record breaker:
- West Bromwich Albion’s first win at Old Trafford since 1978
- Everton’s first win at Old Trafford since 1992
- Newcastle United’s first win at Old Trafford since 1972
- Swansea City’s first ever win at Old Traffor
Keep up the good work David!”
To avoid an altercation with the punters, I removed the banner (even though I found it amusing).
However, it isn’t all doom and gloom for United fans.
It seems that the Red Devils will get back into that habit of winning trophies very soon…
