Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern will be delighted with the way things are going for their team in the Premier League right now, with six straight wins lifting them up to second – seven points behind the leaders, and London rivals, Chelsea.

But it is not just the results that have been impressive, with Spurs also showing their attacking abilities by scoring 19 goals in those six fixtures as some of the favourites of the punters at the bar – Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen – have all hit top form.

While manager Mauricio Pochettino will be confident of keeping the trio at White Hart Lane this month, the rapid rise of the Chinese Super League could cause concern for some of the fans sipping on their drinks that big-money offers could be forthcoming for their star men.

The Argentine boss may well be looking to provide more competition for places and add a little more depth to his squad as we head towards the business end of the campaign though, and the landlord would agree as he wants to see the club do everything they can to pick up their first ever Premier League title.

Here are TWO things Spurs must be fearful of during the January transfer window…

Not signing competition for Eriksen and Alli

The duo have been in sensational form for Spurs during their recent winning run, with Eriksen scoring twice and picking up five assists, while Alli has netted seven times and provided one assist to produce a lot of celebratory spilling of drinks in the tavern, and to show how influential they are to this Tottenham side.

One thing Mauricio Pochettino will be worried about is the fitness of his two attacking midfield stars, because if one – or both – of them were to pick up a long-term injury, there is little competition for them in the squad which is sure to be something that is being discussed by the punters standing at the bar.

The Argentine boss will certainly be searching to add some depth and quality to his squad in forward positions this month if the right player becomes available, and he would be nuts not to strike any deals should the worse happen as the north London outfit aim for the Premier League title.

Not signing an alternative to Kane

The England international has proved time and time again just how much of a talisman he is to this Tottenham team – none more so than during the last six fixtures when he has scored six goals, including a hat-trick against West Brom at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

The punters in the tavern love him, and they will remember when he missed five of Spurs’ Premier League matches earlier in the campaign after picking up an injury against Sunderland, with the north London outfit netting just six goals in that time – a concern for the fans standing at the bar in the future.

With summer signing Vincent Janssen seemingly failing to impress manager Mauricio Pochettino, and not getting the seal of approval from the landlord when he has featured this term, the Argentine boss may well be wise to look for a quality alternative to his star man up top this month, especially if the striker was to spend more time on the sidelines over the remainder of the campaign.
