Scotland got their UEFA Nations League campaign off to a flyer with a 2-0 win over Albania at Hampden Park last night, helping put last week’s horror show against Belgium behind them. Indeed, after the 0-4 trouncing at the hands of the Red Devils, the Scottish game was at a low ebb, so banking a competitive win is good news all around.
Steven Naismith and an Albanian own goal led the Tartan Army to victory, though the Hearts striker certainly hit headlines for another reason last night. Picked over Celtic star Leigh Griffiths, the former Everton ace missed a sitter of epic proportions when he glanced a header wide from point-blank range.
Granted, the Jambos star did score, though his miss certainly sparked quite the reaction from supporters on Twitter. With Griffiths – one of the most popular Scottish players – sitting on the bench, Naismith was even compared to Rangers star Alfredo Morelos, who also has a knack for skying sitters.
With all that said, here’s a look at the reaction online.
Naismith just missed one an absolute sitter for Scotland there. Worthy of Morelos

Naismith is playing like Morelos here. If Griffiths was in his place Scotland would be three up. #SCOALB
