Sturridge must start every Liverpool game from now on, here’s 2 reasons why..

The Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern want to see him back amongst the goals…

Daniel Sturridge is a fan favourite in the Football Transfer Tavern, with many of our punters touting him as one of the most natural finishers in the entire Premier League.

It is disappointing to them, then, that the prolific Englishman has seen his role at Liverpool diminish this season – with Jurgen Klopp often preferring Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino in his place.

Granted, Firmino has done well this year – but Daniel Sturridge is being wasted on the bench.

The English forward proved his qualities in mid-week with the English national team – and he could be doing that for Liverpool in every single game.

It is difficult for Klopp to change a winning formula – but our landlord thinks that Sturridge must start every Liverpool game from now on – and here’s 2 reasons why…

 Goals

The simple reason is purely down to goals.

Very few strikers in Premier League history have a goalscoring record as good as Daniel Sturridge has at Liverpool.

Stretching back to his days combining with Luis Suarez with the Reds – nobody could get close to him and he was simply unstoppable.

He scored an incredible 21 goals during his debut season with Liverpool – and if Klopp can get him close to those numbers; he could fire the club to the Premier League title on his own.

He might have been somewhat inconsistent this year, but his record speaks for itself – and Klopp must make the most of him.

 Player Retention

Simply put – if Sturridge doesn’t play; Liverpool could lose a genuinely world-class striker.

There is no doubt about it – Sturridge is in the upper tier when it comes to European forwards.

He has been prolific everywhere he has been – and there will be a host of clubs queueing up should he look to leave.

If Klopp wants to hold on to him he simply must give him more game time – or Sturridge could force a move away.

He doesn’t have to, or deserve to, start every single game in all competitions – but more game time should be enough to keep him happy – and keep him firing for Liverpool.
