The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Jurgen Klopp to rebuild his attacking line in January. In the midfield, the German has a host of options to choose from, but he has far more trouble when it comes to selecting a number 9.
Roberto Firmino has been a decent option for much of the season. Though he lacks the natural goalscoring ability of some of his peers, he does provide great technical ability, whilst his hard work on the pitch is also evident. That being said, he’s not one of Europe’s best choices in the role, and it’s clear that he’s one of the poorer options amongst the Premier League’s top six clubs.
Beyond him, Klopp has little to no choice. In particular, Daniel Sturridge – who has typically served as back-up for much of the campaign – has really struggled this season, and so Klopp would be wise to replace him as soon as possible.
Fortunately, January is approaching, and some of Europe’s top forwards are firing on all cylinders, meaning that the Reds won’t have any shortage of potential targets.
It remains to be seen who the Reds will consider if they choose to replace him in January, but Klopp should definitely be looking at these 2 forwards…
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
If Liverpool are looking for a forward that has proven his worth over the last few years, look no further than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabon forward has tussled with Robert Lewandowski for the golden boot in Germany over the last few years, with the striker proving deadly in front of goal.
His electric pace is his main asset, with incredible technique and dribbling combining together to often make him an unstoppable forward.
In terms of raw talent, there isn’t anyone better.
Ciro Immobile
Ciro Immobile has been one of Europe’s most lethal forwards this season, and it’s easy to see why.
Scorer of 15 league goals in just 14 league appearances this term, his natural goalscoring instinct is clear, whilst his quality on the ball is also evident. Providing decent pace, a solid engine and, evidently, a fantastic shot – it’s tough to see a better option than Immobile to lead this line.
At 27-years-old, he’s a player in the prime of his life, and he’s finally showing the potential that most European fans knew he had this season.
He won’t be cheap, but Liverpool would struggle to do better on current form.
